Top Down Patterns Round-Up

I often get asked for patterns, and in particular top down garments.

Here is a list of my favourites, with yarn suggestions.

Crochet Patterns:

The Casual Friday Top designed by Bren Grobler can be made in any size. The pattern contains instructions on how to adjust it, regardless of your body shape.

Yarn recommendation: Any fingering/sock/single weight yarn, or two strands of lace weight yarn held together. This pattern is an excellent stashbuster as you can do a stripe version and use up all your odds and ends. The pattern is available here.

The Huldra Sweater is designed by Lilla Bjorn and available here. The patterns is available in from XS – 4X, and can be made with long or short sleeves.

Yarn recommendation: Any fingering weight yarn will work well. This includes Soul, Eco-Lush, AyMara Lindo & Aymara Ame.

The Granny Go Round Jumper, designed by Iron Lamb is a perennial favourite. Change its look by using as many or as few colours as you want. The pattern is available over here. The pattern caters for sizes from XS up to 4X.

Yarn Recommendations: Papyrus, Joy or Aymara Amare or any suitable DK.

Linda Skuja from Elevenhandmade is known for her beautiful designs and easy to understand patterns. The Isolla Sweater is no exception. The pattern is available over here.

Yarn Recommendations: Papyrus, Joy or Aymara Amare or any suitable DK. Nikkim and Eco-Cotton will be great cotton alternatives to merino.

Confetti from Nomad Stitches is available from child size all the way up to adult 4X.  The pattern is available here. This is also a great way to play around with yarns in your stash, but if you do run short, these are great DK’s to choose from:

Yarn Recommendations: Papyrus, Joy or Aymara Amare or any suitable DK. Nikkim and Eco-Cotton will be great cotton alternatives to merino.

Knit Patterns:

So Faded from Andrea Mowry is a fully size inclusive pullover. The length of the sweater and the sleeves can be adjusted to personal taste. The pattern is available here.

Yarn recommendation: Any fingering weight yarn will work well. This includes Soul, Eco-Lush, AyMara Lindo & Aymara Ame.

Isabell Kraemer is well known for her classic designs and Mariechen is no exception. The pattern is sized from XS to XXL and made with DK. It is available over here.

Yarn Recommendations: Papyrus, Joy or Aymara Amare or any suitable DK. Nikkim and Eco-Cotton will be great cotton alternatives to merino.

The Yoga Sweater from Neringa Ruke is an absolute pleasure to knit. It’s a very comfortable fit and is available over here. An aran weight yarn works really well for this pattern, and Bambi or Harmony will be great choices. (I’m making one in Bambi and it is knitting up beautifully).

The Weekend Pullover available here, is another one of my WIP’s. Neringa’s patterns are just sheer joy to make. The instructions are clear and the sizing is perfect.

Any good DK will work really well for this project.

Yarn Recommendations: Papyrus, Joy or Aymara Amare

I hope you enjoyed our list of favourites, and that this inspires you!
